"If it is in our power to prevent something bad from happening, without thereby sacrificing anything of comparable moral importance, we ought, morally, to do it." -Peter Singer
Purpose
The Animal Rights Movement seeks to end the inhumane treatment of animals by narrowing and eventually eliminating the gap between the moral and legal rights of human and non-human animals. It can be traced back to 1800 and is still active today among activists. Individuals, such as Peter Singer and organizations, like PETA are key players in the progression of this movement.
